How do I identify the wires?
Pixel Dots come in two different packages: a pigtail version and a roll version.
To identify the wires on the chains, there are some useful tricks. As you can see in the picture, there are three wires:
- The middle wire is the data wire, and it remains data no matter how the chain is reversed – however, it is important to consider the data direction.
- The wire with dots is plus(+)
- The last wire on the opposite side is minus(-)
How do I find the data direction?
Lay the chain outstretched on a table with the flat side of the LEDs facing down and the dots on the positive wire facing up. Make sure the dots face upwards and are placed at the top of the chain as shown in the image.
How do I put a pigtail on the chain?
Start by separating the individual wires from each other. The easiest way to do this is to use a craft knife and carefully cut between the wires so that they are free from each other. Be careful to avoid damaging the wires themselves.
Then solder the wires to the pigtail, to protect the joint use Solder Seal or shrink wrap with glue.
